You must be wondering why Uniqlo decided to pursue Sneakies. Why didn’t Uniqlo decide to expand their apparel line into sneakers and sell them in stores? If you haven’t heard, millennials and the younger generation are becoming more tech savvy and this generation has the expectation of shopping 24/7, anytime, anywhere. Even a 5-year-old knows how to work an iPhone these days! Sneakies offers customisation so our customers can express themselves and stand out from the crowd and be one of a kind.
We care for the environment and we live up to our sustainability mission by operating on a digital platform, with no physical store that sells our products. Yes, we do have occasional pop-up showrooms, but by doing this, we are able to reduce our carbon footprint as there isn’t a permanent physical store.
Uniqlo is a Japanese brand and inventory space is extremely valuable. As shoes take up a larger inventory space as compared to apparels, having a digital platform for Sneakies ultimately reduces the storage space in Uniqlo stores.
